PHOTOS: Naked man charged in triple murder in Pittsylvania County

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – An 18-year-old man has been charged with three courts of first degree murder in Pittsylvania County after the deaths of two women and a child.

Police first received a 911 call at 8 a.m. reporting that a person had been shot at 1949 Keeling Drive in Pittsylvania County. When officers arrived on scene, they found a woman dead in the driveway of the home. After entering the residence, police discovered the bodies of a second woman and a child. The victims have not been named pending notification of next of kin.

Pittsylvania County authorities issued an alert as they searched for 18-year-old Mathew Bernard around 10 a.m. Tuesday, warning that he was considered armed very dangerous. This prompted the lock down of several schools in the area... Read More

Nevada Film Office supports local children in need through toy drive

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development’s (GOED) Nevada Film Office is partnering with local nonprofit Cure 4 The Kids for a toy drive, hoping to offer children battling cancer and other serious illnesses a small bit of a joy.

“We have a unique reach in the community with the film production community and realize through our reach and through our voice, when our production community comes together to rally behind a cause like this, amazing things are achieved,” Nevada Film Office Resources Coordinator Danette Tull told 8 News Now. “They’ve never disappointed.”

Metro warns of phone scam using police phone numbers

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro says they have received reports of a phone scam going around using Metro phone numbers and extensions. They say the scammers are attempting to solicit money over the phone.

They want to remind you that they will never call you for any of the following reasons:

  • Call and demand immediate payment for warrants or traffic fines.
  • Threaten arrest for failure to pay.
  • Request credit or debit card numbers over the phone.
  • Request personal information such as a Social Security Card number.
  • Sell or solicit money for any type of service, including insurance services for funeral expenses.

Metro: Woman shot and killed in downtown Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro Police are investigating a homicide in downtown Las Vegas. According to Metro, dispatchers received a call about the shooting in the 1400 block of South Casino Center Dr. around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived on scene they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.

Metro did not release any information on the suspect or suspects.

According to Popeye’s, they are completely sold out of the chicken sandwiches that rival Chick-Fil-A!

After a couple of weeks of people losing their minds over the fried crispy chicken filet wedged between two pieces of brioche bun, dressed with mayo, and pickles — the company announced via Twitter that they were out because “you ate them all!”

Wells Fargo email scam going around

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Don’t believe everything in your inbox. If you’re a Wells Fargo customer, you may have gotten and email that looked like an official notice about your account, but it’s actually fake.

In the email, it says a new payee has been added to your Wells Fargo Bill Pay account. It then asks you to click a link and log in to review your account.

The bank has some tips to keep yourself from falling victim to scams.

They say check to see if the email is actually from an “@WellsFargo.com” account. They also say to be wary of emails that say “alert” or “fore your protection,” as they often lead to fake websites... Read More
