MWC Commissioner upbeat on conference growth, league outlook

LAS VEGAS (KLAS-TV) – Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson talked about the health of the league Tuesday and its relationship with the remaining programs.

During the conference football media day, Thompson addressed the growth and future of the conference. Coaches and players from all 12 teams took turns at the Green Valley Ranch Resort podiums as did Thompson, who spoke about the long-standing relationship Vegas and Mountain West have developed and strengthened over the years.

I-Team Exclusive: Surveillance, body camera video shows Scott Gragson before, after deadly DUI crash

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Moments after a deadly crash involving a high profile businessman, the 8 News NOW I-Team has exclusively obtained video of the first time Scott Gragson was questioned at the scene by a Metro Police officer.

Gragson, 53, was accused of driving drunk and losing control of his SUV. It happened in the upscale Ridges community in Summerlin. One woman was killed in the May 30 crash, and three others were injured. The person killed was 36-year-old Melissa Newton. She was a mother of three.

Gragson is facing 80 felony charges.

The I-Team has also obtained documents and additional video at the center of the case. I-Team Reporter Vanessa Murphy has been looking through the video and photos all day.

2020 candidates face crowded Nevada congressional seats

LAS VEGAS (KLAS-TV) – With no us senate contest in 2020, the top of the ticket will be crowded with races for Nevada’s congressional seats.

Although two of the districts are safe seats for incumbents, two others will be competitive, including the fourth district. The fourth district takes in the vast middle part of the state, rural counties like white pine and Lincoln and urban areas such as North Las Vegas, which is currently represented by Congressman Steven Horsford, who won the seat in 2012, lost it in 2014, but regained the position last year.

Stop DUI advocate disheartened by NLVPD assistant chief’s arrest

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The fallout continues after a higher-up within the North Las Vegas Police department was arrested on DUI charges. The department’s assistant chief, Clinton Ryan, was taken into custody Sunday night.

“My whole family was nearly annihilated by a drinking driver,” said Sandy Heverly, the executive director and victim advocate for STOP DUI.

Heverly lost her mother in a DUI crash more than 30 years ago, now she works with Stop DUI to help local law enforcement educate the public and keep them aware of the dangers of driving under the influence.

“We’re there just to support them in any way that we can,” Heverly said.

Passenger killed in crash into parked truck trailer identified

The man who died in a crash early Monday after a Mercedes sedan slammed into a parked semi-trailer has been identified as 21-year-old Siwoo Choi, the Clark County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday.

Choi was a passenger in the car. The car’s driver, Eunbi Kim of Las Vegas, sustained “substantial” injuries, police said Monday.

Police are investigating whether Kim had been drinking before the crash, which happened just after 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Robindale Road and Duneville Street in the south valley.

The coroner’s office said Choi died of blunt force injuries. Police reported Monday that Choi listed an address in State College, Pennsylvania... Read More

I-Team Exclusive: Body camera video shows officer talking to Gragson at deadly DUI crash scene

LAS VEGAS (KLAS-TV) – Local businessman Scott Gragson, 53, has been indicted on four counts of felony DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm and four counts of felony reckless driving for a May 30 crash that killed one of his passengers.

Gragson has pleaded not guilty to the charges. It happened in the upscale Ridges community near Flamingo Road and Town Center Drive after a golf tournament.

New evidence obtained by the I-Team includes body camera video from a Metro officer at the scene, surveillance video from a nearby home, security video, and police photographs.
