Jesus Jara to speak at 3 p.m. to clarify CCSD budget, dean positions

A news conference set for 3 p.m. today could clarify how the Clark County School District intends to resolve a $17 million budget deficit without eliminating 170 dean positions.

Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara is scheduled to speak and address the problem.

Grim visual shows teens deadly consequences of driving under the influence

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Some Las Vegas high school students got a grim visual Wednesday of the dangers of driving under the influence.

An event to promote safe teen driving was held at UNLV campus and involved staging a mock crash scene to give the teens an idea of what can happen when someone drives under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

NHP trooper treated for minor injuries after car strikes cruiser

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was treated for minor injuries Wednesday after a car struck his parked cruiser along northbound U.S. 95 near Horizon Ridge in Henderson.

The trooper was working at the scene of a crash at the time, an NHP spokesman said. As rain fell in the area, a car went through traffic cones that had been set up for the first crash.

Second man arrested after body found in desert outside Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police have arrested a second man in the investigation of a body found in the desert near Sunrise Mountain on March 15.

Jose Garnica, 47, faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, open murder, kidnapping and robbery, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.

The body of Marcos Madrid was found in the desert near Sunrise Mountain, near State Route 147 milemarker 10.

Garnica was arrested on July 18, and was taken to the Clark County Detention Center.

Police arrested Antonio Yanez, 25, in April. He faces murder, kidnapping and robbery charges... Read More
