UPDATED: Las Vegas Police Locate Missing Woman
News

UPDATED - (Metro police say Susie Rae Paperno has been found at a local hospital.)

Metro Police are searching for a local woman who vanished without a trace. Fifty-seven-year-old Susie Rae Paperno was last seen at her home late last month near the Summerlin area.

Friends and neighbors now fear for the woman's safety. "I don't think bad thoughts, but it's not looking good. It's not looking good," said friend Jeff Behar. "I am really afraid for her at this point," said friend Gayla Miyama.

Paperno's home near Washington and Tenaya is sealed with police tape. Many of her personal belongings remain inside. "(She left) her vehicle and other things that would lead us to believe that she wouldn't have just left her property," said Metro Police Lt. Rob Lundquist.

Neighbors say Paperno leads a private life as a psychic who works from home. They say she is the type of person who always lets friends know where she is going and what she is doing. "She just hasn't gone away and forgotten to let somebody know or anything like that," Miyama said. "It's a lot more than that."

Friends say they became suspicious when police first arrived at Paperno's home to investigate her whereabouts and discovered her front door was open. "The front door is the kicker, because she would never open that door up for anybody unless she absolutely knows that person," Bahar said.

Police are looking into every clue. So far, they have few leads. They also worry Paperno may have a medical condition. "We are concerned that she's out there," said Lt. Lundquist. "There may be a medical problem and some need of medical attention."

For now, neighbors can only wait anxiously. All they want is their friend back home safely. "I'm a positive guy. I'm hoping that she's in the hospital somewhere. That's what I'm hoping," Bahar said. "I hope that it's not the worst scenario. But every day that she's gone, I get more frightened," Miyama added.

Anyone with information about Susie Rae Paperno's whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
