Shoppers hit Downtown Summerlin for the deals, atmosphere on Black Friday

Thousands of shoppers packed local stores around the Las Vegas valley on this Black Friday looking for deals.

And some shoppers took advantage of more than just deals.

Downtown Summerlin drew a large crowd, as it has done for the past five years since it opened.

"It's just fun," said Angelica Macaballug, shopper. "It's kind of fun being able to be with a bunch of people and then the sales are always really nice."

Thousands visited Downtown Summerlin seeking hot holiday deals on Black Friday.

"What aren't the hot deals? Everything's got that half off, that 25, even that 75, you got to go everywhere and find the deals," said shopper Robert Seguin.

Shopper Karisa Odrunia scored 30 percent off on one purchase.

"Just a really nice denim jacket."

Many choose to brave the crowds instead of buying online.

"It's more fun to see the stuff in the stores, get the exercise in, walk around a little bit, see the people," said Robert Seguin.

"Everyone comes out to shop on Black Friday. So, we want to be part of it," said Megan Gneiting, shopper.

"I really enjoy the atmosphere, the outside, just all the buildings all around. Think it's really nice," said Robert Seguin, shopper.

"Every year it grows. This year traffic and sales are both up. We have positive tenant feedback," said Halee Harczynski, director of marketing, Downtown Summerlin.

Downtown Summerlin started welcoming shoppers four years ago and people continue to return as the surrounding area develops.

"I think with the growth of Summerlin as a whole and the community of Las Vegas valley and of course have City National Arena right across the street, the buzz around Downtown Summerlin is really good," Harczynski said.

"I think there are a lot more attractions here," Gneiting said.

Offering visitors an experience which includes the Rock Rink and Santa Claus.

"It's kind of fun, the holidays and all the traditions," Gneiting said.

The holiday parade kicks off at 6 every Friday and Saturday.
