New Mall Planned for Busy Shopping Area

New Mall Planned for Busy Shopping Area

A new mall may be coming to the western side of Las Vegas. The new shopping area is being built between Boca Park and Tivoli Village along Rampart Boulevard near Alta Drive.

The Las Vegas Renaissance is expected to be built over the next three years. It is being developed by the same group that built Tivoli Village. Despite the vacancies at retail shopping centers around southern Nevada, the developers still think Las Vegas is being underserved.

"Our view of the market is that we absolutely need more retail," executive vice-president of Tivoli Village and Renaissance Patrick Done said.

The plan is build a 700,000 square-foot enclosed mall on the vacant lot across Alta Drive from Tivoli Village. Developers say they are working to secure the tenants for the project.

Popular Neighborhood Restaurant Moving and Expanding

Popular Neighborhood Restaurant Moving and Expanding

Many restaurants have struggled in the rough economy but one restaurant is actually expanding.

Rachel’s Kitchen is moving from its location in Summerlin to a bigger space just a mile down the street at Desert Inn and Hualapai. The expanded space means a bigger kitchen, more seating space and a climate-controlled patio. They’re also expecting a 20 percent jump in sales in the bigger space.

The owner, Debbie Sofer-Roxarzade, says the collapse of the construction industry has actually helped them get their new location on track.

“They have been there the whole time, everyone is been doing what they need to, to get it done versus five years ago when the construction market was so hot, if you were a small account no one really paid attention to you," said Sofer-Roxarzade.
