Firefighters versus old-timers? That’s the plan for a Summerlin softball game this weekend.

The grand opening of the new Fire Station 107 in Sun City Summerlin is scheduled for June, and to celebrate, off-duty Las Vegas firefighters will play a softball game with Sun City Summerlin at 11 a.m. Saturday at 2215 Thomas Ryan Road in Sun City Summerlin.

The Sun City Summerlin Softball League is made up of seniors at least 55 years old who live in Sun City Summerlin.

Throwing out the first pitch for the game will be Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony, who is also the councilman for Ward 4, where the new fire station will be located.

The grand opening for Fire Station 107 is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19. A four-person paramedic engine company and a two-person  EMS paramedic rescue unit will operate out of the station.
