Second suspect arrested in home invasion | Crime
Metro Police arrested a second suspect in a deadly home invasion last month.
Police arrested 28-year-old Robert Figueroa on charges of murder with a deadly weapon and burglary with a deadly weapon.
According to police, Figuero and Jorge Mendoza broke into a home near Charleston Boulevard and Hualapai Way on Sept. 21. Two people were inside at the time and one of the residents was armed.
The resident shot back at Mendoza and Figueroa, police said. The resident, Monty Gibson, was shot and killed. Both Mendoza and Figueroa were injured.
A blood trail led police to Mendoza shortly after the home invasion. He was arrested that night.
Witnesses told police that Figueroa was involved and had been shot in the face and torso during the home invasion.
Police tracked him down Monday on an outstanding warrant from Henderson. During an interview with police, Figueroa told them he was driving to the house to buy marijuana.
He told police when he got to the home the door was already open and that is when he heard gunshots. He says he was shot while trying to run away.
