Police Search for Smoke Shop Robbers

Las Vegas Police are looking for two suspects who robbed a smoke shop on May 17.

The robbery happened at a shop near Durango Drive and Desert Inn Road. Officers say the two men walked into the shop posing as customers, waited for another customer to leave, then pulled out a gun and demanded money from the clerk. While the clerk emptied the register and gave the money to one of the suspects, the other suspect took a store computer. They were last seen jumping a wall surrounding the shopping center.

Vandals damaged rock art sites at Red Rock National Conservation Area in November 2010. Since then, restoration experts have worked to clean the graffiti sprayed onto the rocks and Bureau of Land Management officials today highlighted the progress made. 8 News NOW Photojournalist Mark Zamora sent these photos of the work. Suspect in Multiple Robberies Sought by Metro Police

A suspect wanted in connection with multiple robberies is being sought by Metro Police. 

On February 26, the man pictured entered a local business located on the 9000 block of W. Flamingo Road, confronted an employee and demanded money from the cash registers. The suspect was armed with a firearm and the employee complied with his demands. The suspect fled the business with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 50's or 60's, approximately 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, gray hair and a beard. This same person is suspected in at least four business robberies that occurred during the months of February and March 2011. Two of the robberies occurred in Las Vegas and two of the robberies occurred in Tucson, Ariz.

Metro Motorcycle Competition at Suncoast on Saturday

Metro Motorcycle Competition at Suncoast on Saturday

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will host Saturday its 15th Annual Southwest Police Motorcycle Training and Competition.

This event is an opportunity for police motorcycle officers from across the country to compete and share training ideas. There will be a timed cone course testing the rider’s ability on several different exercises. We will also have a slow race, team ride and pair ride. Officers will compete on their duty motorcycles, Harley Davidson, BMW, Kawasaki or Honda, while in full uniform.

The event is free and open to the public, and will be held in the marquee parking lot of the Suncoast Hotel and Casino (Rampart and Alta) from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be motorcycles, vendors, food, music, and other fun displays for the entire family, and a chance to meet police motorcycle officers from across the country.

All of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Special Olympics Nevada.

Police Look for Alleged Jewel Thief

LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas police are looking for information about a burglary at a jewelry store.

Police say on Saturday evening, a man entered the store near Lake Mead Boulevard and Rampart Boulevard and stole several large diamonds valued at over $500,000. The suspect then and fled from the store.

The man is described as a white male in his mid-20's, about 6 feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Metro Seeks Public’s Help Identifying Suspect

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are asking for your help in ID'ing a suspect!

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect who committed a grand larceny from a local business.


Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011, the suspect entered a jewelry store in the 8500 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard. The suspect was able to grab several large diamonds, valued at over $500,000.00, and flee the store.


The suspect is described as a white male adult in his mid-20’s, approximately 6’ tall, medium build, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Prominent Businessman Arrested for Domestic Violence

LAS VEGAS -- A prominent Las Vegas businessman is facing felony domestic violence charges after allegedly chasing and ramming his wife with a sports car.

Nevada Beverage Company owner Pat Clark faces a charge of battery constituting domestic violence with use of a deadly weapon.

Prosecutors say in March of 2010, Clark confronted his wife over her relationship with her dance instructor. When she got in her car and left, Clark hopped in his Porsche and followed her, repeatedly ramming her car with his and causing severe damage to both vehicles.

He eventually cut his wife off at the Summerlin library, which is where police arrested him.
