Historically Black Colleges Part of Recruitment Fair

A group dedicated to getting more kids to go to college is holding a series of college fairs in southern Nevada this week.

United College Action Network will be hosting the 14th annual Historically Black College Recruitment fair at four different high schools around the Las Vegas valley.

The first was held Monday at Legacy High School.

Here is a list of the rest of events:


  • 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Andre Agassi College Prep Academy, 1201 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
  • 7:15 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Canyon Springs High School, 350 E. Alexander Rd., North Las Vegas.
  • 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Pearson Community Center, 1625 W. Carey Avenue, North Las Vegas.
  • 7:15 to 10:15 a.m. Friday, Cimarron-Memorial High School, 2301 N. Tenaya Way


Some of the colleges that will be represented at the fairs include Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Benedict College, Clark Atlanta University, Howard University, Morehouse College, Texas Southern University and many other colleges and universities.

Students who wish to apply for admissions or scholarships at the event should bring an official transcript and a copy of their ACT/SAT test scores, for each college application they plan to complete.
