Students Enjoy Campfire Night at Red Rock Canyon

Students from some southern Nevada schools are getting a chance to enjoy one of the most spectacular sites in the country: Red Rock Canyon.

The Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association is hosting two Campfire Family Nights at the conservation area. The nights are for families enrolled in the After-School All-Stars’ Lifetime Adventure program.

The program promotes outdoor learning, wilderness travel and environmental preservation. Families in the program go on educational and recreational field trips.

The first campfire night was Friday, April 13. The next one is Friday, April 27. Students from Cashman Middle School will get a chance for a scavenger hunt at the Red Rock Visitor’s center, a presentation on the desert tortoise, a campfire dinner and an introduction to astronomy.

There are currently about 150 families involved with the lifetime adventure program.
