Pictographs at Red Rock Restored

Important pictographs damaged by vandals last year have been restored at Red Rock National Conservation Area.

Thursday the Bureau of Land Management will show how the significant cliff etchings were restored. The BLM brought in experts to remove the spray paint without damaging the rocks. The bureau's archaeologist will detail the techniques used to clean up the area while making sure the one-of-a-kind art wasn't damaged.

Hikers found the graffiti last November in rocks about 17 miles from Las Vegas. Archaeologist estimate the pictographs and petroglyphs to be up to a 1,000 years old.
