Red Rock Resort Wins Casino of the Year

Red Rock Resort Wins Casino of the Year

Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa has been named Casino of the Year by the Academy of Country Music.

The resort received the award because it played host to so many country music artists in 2012. It will be honored during the ACM award show, which is set to air on CBS on Sunday, April 7.

The award will be officially presented to the casino during an off-camera industry celebration in Nashville in the fall.

This is the fifth time Station Casinos has won this award. Boulder Station and Green Valley Ranch have both won the award in the past.

Red Rock Resort is home to a weekly performance of Nashville Unplugged, which is a showcase for singer-songwriters Brian McComas and Aaron Benward, along with up-and-coming country talent.

It is competing against Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California; Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Washington and WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

Boulder Station won the award in 1999, 2001, and 2003. Green Valley Ranch Resort won in 2009.

Cox to Offer Video-on-Demand Content Through TiVo

SAN FRANCISCO -- Digital video recording pioneer TiVo Inc. and cable television provider Cox Communications Inc. are making it easier for Cox subscribers who use TiVo's DVR boxes to watch Cox's on-demand video content.

The companies said Thursday that Cox's video-on-demand library will become accessible on TiVo's latest DVR, the TiVo Premiere, in Cox's major markets, which include San Diego and Las Vegas. The integration is expected early next year.

In the past, cable providers haven't integrated their on-demand content with consumer DVR products such as those from TiVo, so watching on-demand movies or television shows from Cox and other companies has been a cumbersome process for TiVo users.
