LAS VEGAS -- A climber in the Red Rock Canyon area reportedly took a 40-foot fall Tuesday morning, and was assisted by crews from Las Vegas Fire and Rescue.

According to the fire department, crews from Fire Station 47, which is near Far Hills Road and the 215 beltway, along with the Technical Rescue Team responded to accident just after 10 a.m.

Firefighters had to hike about a quarter of a mile to treat the victim, who was brought out on stretcher and transported away by helicopter.

The injuries were serious but did not appear to be life-threatening, fire officials said.
