Two-Alarm Fire Heavily Damages Summerlin Home

LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas Fire and Rescue is investigating a two-alarm house fire at 1517 Champion Hills Lane, which is near Rampart Boulevard and Vegas Drive.

According to fire officials, the fire started at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Several crews responded to the blaze, including 70 fire workers utilizing 30 pieces of equipment.

Fire spokesman Tim Szymanski says because of the large size of the house and attic, extra fire crews responded to fight the blaze.

The fire broke through the roof of the house, prompting a second alarm. Some of the attic contents fell on to the second floor. As a result, areas initially not involved with the fire became engulfed.

Firefighters used master streams mounted on fire engines and aerial ladders to spray nearly 5,000 gallons of water per minute on the flames.

The fire did not cause any injuries. Investigators say no one was home when the fire started.
