Murder victim remembered by co-workers
Triple murder victim Corey Childers.

LAS VEGAS -- Cory Childers, one of the three victims shot and killed Tuesday night, is being remembered by co-workers.

Childers was in an apartment complex in the 2200 block of South Fort Apache Road with his girlfriend, 18-year-old Yvonne Rose Reyes and her 33-year-old mother Veronica Caldwell when they were shot and killed. Metro Police said the gunman is Caldwell's 21-year-old husband who was hospitalized after he turned the gun on himself.

Giustina Voyson worked with Childers as an assistant server at Nacho Daddy in Summerlin.

“He (speaking of a co-worker) said Cory was shot this morning, and so my immediate reaction was, ‘Okay, well where is he? Where do we go to visit him?' That's when he said, ‘he's not here anymore,'” Voyson said.

“I think everybody is trying to grasp what happened because it just doesn't seem real,” said William Beardmore, Nacho Daddy co-worker. “Cory was larger than life. He was a big part of this place.”

Beardmore says the team at the Nacho Daddy restaurant is like one big family.

“You're not just losing an employee, you're losing a best friend, so everybody is completely crushed and devastated. He's going to be missed,” Beardmore said.

Co-workers speak highly of Childers, calling him a hard worker who helped his family.

“I think Cory was one of those people that inspired everybody to be a little bit better for their family,” said Voyson.

The staff at Nacho Daddy said they want to help Cory's family, so they set up a GoFundMe account so people could donate.

"We're going to make it through this for Cory and his family," Voyson said.

Childers' mother told 8 News NOW he was also a student at ITT Tech studying computer engineering.
