Summer safety fair planned for two city pools | Parents & kids
The city of Las Vegas and the Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition will host two summer safety fairs at two city pools in time for the summer pool season.
Both fairs will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 30. One will be at the Municipal Pool, 431 E. Bonanza and Pavilion Center Pool, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive. The fairs are open to the public.
The focus will be on preventing drowning by showing parents, guardians and day care providers about infant and child safety around water.
People will also get information about safety around the home, preventing accidents and how to respond in an emergency.
People who come to the safety fair will get free admission to the pool between 7 and 8 p.m. Children under the age of 7 must be supervised by an adult within arm's reach at all times.
Drowning is the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
