Las Vegas Council Seats Contested in Tuesday Primary | Politics
Three Las Vegas City Council seats are up for election beginning with Tuesday’s primary.
City residents living in Wards 2, 4 and 6 can vote for a candidate in seats held currently by Bob Beers, Stavros Anthony and Steve Ross, respectively. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Absentee ballots must be received by the City Clerk before 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
Voters should check their sample ballots for their designated polling location or call the City Clerk at 229-6311 or the Clark County Registrar of Voters at 455-VOTE (8683).
Once polls close at 7 p.m., election results will be posted on the city’s website,www.lasvegasnevada.gov, and on the city’s government access television station, KCLV Cable Channel 2.
Some seats could be decided in the primary. If a candidate receives more than 50 percent of the votes, he or she is elected. No general election would be held for that office.
However, if no candidate receives that majority in the primary, the names of the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes are placed on the ballot for the general, scheduled for June 4.
