Photo Gallery | Seniors, Students and Blue Star Mothers Send Troops Holiday Cheer
A group of seniors, volunteers from a local high school and the mothers of military members all worked together Wednesday to create care packages to troops serving overseas.
The seniors at Atria Seville, an assisted living community on Rampart Boulevard, worked with students from Faith Lutheran High School and Blue Star Mothers to prepare and send care packages.
"We practically send boxes, try to send boxes, once a month to let them know we are still here. We are still thinking about them," said Frances West, a Blue Star & Gold Star Mother who lost her son in 2010.
Many of the packages included crafts handmade by the residents of the center. They also packed American food like beef jerky and candy. They also included holiday decorations and ornaments.
Many of the men and women at the center know how important it is to show support for the troops because of their own service during World War II.
