Mad Greek cafe offers flavorful renditions of traditional dishes

Restaurant reviewer says the Las Vegas outpost of the Mad Greek Cafe serves up great Greek fare.

Until last week, my only familiarity with the Mad Greek Cafe had been a strawberry shake (a specialty) from the drive-thru at the flagship in Baker, Calif.

Reviewer: Echo & Rig Shows Promise

Restaurant reviewer says there are lot of good things about one of Tivoli Village's hottest restaurants, but improvements need to be made.

We were really looking forward to Echo & Rig. We’d heard good things and liked the concept of a restaurant and butcher shop as siblings. We also knew it was the hottest thing to hit Tivoli Village lately and so made sure to call for a reservation.

Reviewer: We Should Say a Few Words About the Closing of HOPS & HARVEST

Restaurant reviewer John Curtas says despite the great food, other factors behind the closure of Hops & Harvest at Tivoli Village.

Hops & Harvest bit the dust a few days ago less than six months after it opened to great fanfare in Tivoli Village.

Its ignominious demise was hardly a surprise, as we had received a stream of reports over the past few months about how empty it was even on weekends.

Ogden's Hops & Harvest Perfect Fit for Its Away-From-The-Strip Location

Restaurant reviewer says new off-the-Strip eatery by a celebrity chef offers great food at a reasonable price and has yet to be discovered by the masses.  

The Maytag Blue Cheese Souffle and many of the other upscale touches from Bradley Ogden’s first, eponymous Las Vegas restaurant are missing from his decidedly downscale second one, Hops & Harvest … not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Butcher Shop-Steakhouse to Open at Tivoli Village

Successful restaurateurs from Los Angeles is opening a new concept in shopping and dining at Tivoli Village.

To the right, black marble floors give way to the open butcher block at Echo & Rig Butcher and Steakhouse, opening Friday at Tivoli Village, 440 S. Rampart Blvd. Immaculately butchered lamb leg roast, chicken feet and London broil rest among sprigs of rosemary inside a walk-in refrigerator, viewable to the public through a floor-to-ceiling glass door. To the left, black vest-wearing bartenders stand behind Mason jars filled with orange and lemon slices, and a glass breaking behind the bar, purposeful or not, signals the start of business.

Summerlin Eatery Offering Special Menu for Restaurant Week

Three Square's Las Vegas Restaurant Week is returning at the end of August and the restaurant Honey Salt is again participating in the event.

During Restaurant Week, some of the top eateries in Las Vegas offer specially priced meals with a donation going to the food bank for each meal ordered.

At Honey Salt, 1031 South Rampart, the menu will include a salad, a choice of entree and a seasonally inspired dessert. The menu will be available August 23 through August 30.

Since the week was launched in 2006, more than 1.5 million meals have been provided for those in need from the money earned. All the proceeds stay in Las Vegas.

Three Square collects and distributes food to local food banks around southern Nevada.
